Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for support staff in your home, usually a home shared with other people with disability. It pays for the people, not the house.
Who it suits
Adults who need substantial support most of the day, often including overnight. If you need less than that, Individualised Living Options (ILO) may suit better; see SIL, SDA and ILO.
What the NDIS funds
- Support workers rostered in the home, for example 1:1 or 1:2 during the day
- Overnight support, active or sleepover
- Help with personal care, cooking, cleaning, medication, appointments and community access
What you pay
Rent, board and a share of household bills, usually from the Disability Support Pension and Rent Assistance.
